Hi! Welcome to my Blog! My name is Kerry (Killoren) Michaels. I recently got married (Oct. 3, 2009 to be exact), so still getting use to my new last name 🙂 My husband Joe and I met in graduate school at Notre Dame and dated for about 2 1/2 years before we got married.
We live in Danbury, CT and I work at Waterworks as a Licensing/ Marketing Manager. Part of my job this coming year is to help launch “social media” – blogs, twitter, facebook – for the company, so it has motivated me to become part of the blogoshpere. I also, of course, love to cook, but can never remember what I’ve made. At the very least this will be a great way to begin my library of recipes, but hopefully I’ll be able to pass on some great tips and motivate others to start cooking and get creative! Once you stop thinking of cooking as a “chore” and more as way to have fun and express yourself (even if it’s not perfect), the better you’ll become – that’s what I keep telling myself too.
I’d say my first real love for cooking started when I studied abroad in Florence the summer before my senior year at UNC. There I learned how to make homemade tomato sauce from a waiter at my favorite restaurant. I was stunned when he told me how easy it was. And his secret – diced carrots. I never would have guessed. When I got home I started testing out different ways to recreate the foods I loved in Italy, and I was hooked! That’s where it all began. Before Italy, I was lucky if I boiled water to make pasta. I think I just didn’t know where to start. My Mom and Nana always say, “if you can read, you can cook,” and that’s just the beginning. Now it’s about trying new things!
Hope you enjoy my blog!
Go to Italy and don’t fall in love with food is almost impossible Right? 😀
